Broncos 2024 Roster Overview

Since the preseason of the NFL just ended today is the day a lot of players in the NFL dread which cut day. Where teams cut the roster size from 70 down to 53. Denver had to make some tough decisions on some the players they wanted to keep versus cut. Some of the tough decisions included if they wanted to keep a 3rd quarterback on the roster in Zach Wilson, if they wanted to keep a veteran running back in Samaje Perine, another would be veteran wide Tim Patrick, an inside linebacker in Jonas Griffith, and lastly was safety Caden Sturns who has been hurt the last couple of years.

Out of these five players I mentioned Denver only ended up keeping one which was Zach Wilson the young quarterback who the Broncos recently traded for. Sean Payton the head coach of the Broncos is a firm believer in Zach Wilson and thinks he is a very capable back up to the rookie Bo Nix. Up next was Samaje Perine who was brought in last season to help give a veteran presence to the young running back room. Unfortunately, he was cut by the Broncos for salary cap reasons and now is signed with the Broncos division rival Kansas City Chiefs. Moving on to Tim Patrick, he was loved by Broncos fans from the numerous seasons he spent with the team however he was also a salary cap casualty for an already crowded wide receiver room, he now plays in Detroit for the Lions. The next player I mentioned was Jonas Griffith who unfortunately just got buried on the depth chart during the preseason and just was never going to play. He still remains a free agent and is awaiting a call for a team to go help out and play. Lastly was one my personal favorite players in Caden Sterns who is a young safety. He has his previous season cut short to injury and never got health enough to make a return over the offseason. Sean Payton believed we had enough safeties on the teal already and had to let him go. Sterns is signed to a new team and plays for the Philadelphia Eagles where he will have a serious chance at a Super Bowl this season.
